"The Traveler" by Plasticat (found here: plasticatsstories.wordpress.com/) is an episodic short novel about a mysterious Traveler with an unusual and menacing role in the universe. It's part of a larger cycle of works, The Twin Kcors, described in this thread: moonmomma.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=workinprogress&action=display&thread=22.
The character of the Traveler is very well-drawn: you know he's doing bad things, but you sense there's more to him than that. One of my favorite kinds of characters, not all good or all evil, but kind of working his way between them. The story takes you on some of his adventures as he does his job, gives you a glimpse of his past (just enough to want more!) and leaves the Traveler on the cusp of trying to figure out who he really is.
Even though Plasticat is a young writer, just starting out, I can already tell that he's very talented. I'm looking forward to reading more of The Twin Kcors and can't wait to find out what happens to the Traveler.
