I like the idea of having a particular soundtrack playing while writing a particular work, but I haven't done it that way myself. I play hard classic rock when I need to pump up energy, but not when I'm actually working, because I end up dancing instead of writing. The other day, I had a French pop radio station playing in the background. Nice, because the music had just the right amount of energy, but because my French isn't very good, I didn't get hooked into listening closely. If I need to seriously think, I'll put on baroque classical.
Hmm....if I had to have music that matched this book, it would probably be Saami joiking, by Marie Boine or Nils-Aslak Valkeapää (some of you might remember him from the opening ceremonies to the Lillehammer Olympics, or the movie The Pathfinder) But the music is so exciting, I probably wouldn't write. Hmmm. I think I'll put on the Boine cd and see what happens.

Google iz my frend! www.myspace.com/boineMarie Boine's MySpace Music page with free tracks to listen to. www.last.fm/music/Nils-Aslak+Valkeap%C3%A4%C3%A4LastFM, page about Nils-Aslak Valkeapää, and you can play a radio station with his and similar music. I was completely unfamiliar with these artists. Very exciting and atmospheric - sets a great background for fantasy writing!
