When it became apparent that my current project, "The Empty God," was turning out to be pretty massive, I decided to set a daily word count quota for myself. My daily goal is 2000 words a day. I did this for a while before I started actually recording my daily word counts. Here's what I have so far:
2/11 - 2268 words
2/12 - 2088 words
2/13 - 2550 words
2/14 - 2395 words
2/16 - 2268 words
total of 11,569 words
I do this usually in about 5 - 6 15-minute chunks of time every day.
The size of your word count goal doesn't matter; what matters is how much you can get done with a steady effort!

Total words for today, 2/17 - 2343.
Didn't think I would make it, but I got through to the end of the Big Pivotal Scene. The main problem is now solved, but there's still a few pesky matters of a bad guy still hanging around, and a revolution.

2/18 - 2113 words 2/19 - 2165 words total for the whole thing so far: 109,700 words  I don't think I've ever written anything this long before. And there's still probably three chapters to go. |

only 1319 today.  couldn't settle down and concentrate. i feel like if i really went on a marathon and concentrated and didn't do anything else, i'd finish this thing in just a few more days. it's getting so close. and then revision time.  |

2/22 - 2267 words
Getting very very close to finishing; I think one more very long chapter or two shorter chapters plus an epilogue.

Yay, i so rock!!!!!! ;D 3682 words today! (same as saturday ) and only two scenes left to go!! document total so far 130,000 words. |

finished the last chapter!!!!!!!!!!!!
now for the epilogue, then I've got some major scene revisions (add a few scenes, move a few things) to do before I print this puppy out to start the real editing process.

WROTE THE LAST WORD IN THE BOOK!!!!!!!!!!! ;D and it worked out good because I was just kind of noodling along, trying to decide how to tie it off, and the perfect last sentence came to me that perfectly recalls the first paragraph and brings everything full circle.
now for some major revisions - add a few scenes, move a few around. then print and revise.

Back to "The Empty God" now that "Starfire" is finished and ready for posting. I'm on the first and biggest revision - I'll be posting about my revision process on the "Share Your Wisdom" board, because sometimes people find revising to be rather daunting and it's helpful to get tips and suggestions about how to go about it. I'm on Chapter 2 right now.
