Now that I've set aside Earthsinger for a while, I've decided to finally revise my NaNo novel from last November, a Sailor Moon fanfic called Solaris. I took a printout of it with me on vacation and read it straight through. It isn't as terrible as I was afraid it was, which isn't saying much. However, it does get much worse as it goes on. My goal right now is to revise 5 pages per day (adjusted to start and stop at the beginning and end of scenes, instead of in the middle of a scene).

Great..how many pages is your original piece?

it's 157 pages. a large part of the last 40 pages is mostly filler that I put in to reach 50,000 words (I wrote this for National Novel Writing Month last November). so a lot of that is just going to be cut out.

Up to p. 106 of Solaris.
My ideas for "Beneath the Canyons" and "In the Shadows of Paradise" are shaping up really well, and I'm excited to get started writing them. I'm tempted to do one for Camp NaNo in August. I've also got a ton of stuff sitting around waiting to be revised, so I think I might have to start working on two projects at once, one being written and one being revised. That might be too much to try to do during NaNo.

finished with the first revision of Solaris!! ;D It's going to need one or possibly two more revisions, but for now it's time to print it out and let it rest for a bit. In the meantime, I want to start on "Beneath the Canyons," but I also want to do something about the backlog of stuff I have sitting around waiting to be revised. So what I think I'm going to try is this: every day, revise 5 pages of "The Lost Book of Anggird" and write 500 words of "Beneath the Canyons." So, am I crazy?

Wonderful! Looking forward to reading it and I hope revising it other times is even more easy.

it should be a lot easier, I took out 8,000 words this go-round!
changing my new goals, I'll never get anywhere if I only do 5 pages/500 words a day, so I'm doubling it to 10 pages/1000 words a day. I've just got too much backlog to work so slowly, plus I need to start getting in shape for NaNoWriMo ;D

so far, I'm up to p. 21 (out of 353 pages) in Lost Book of Anggird (long way to go - that's why I decided to revise 10 pages a day), and 2176 words of Canyons. I take Sundays off, it's kind of hard but if I make myself take a day off hopefully I can avoid getting burned out.
